IJmuiden has evolved into the Dutch centre for offshore wind energy on the North Sea. Using the Port of IJmuiden as their base, MHI Vestas Offshore, Eneco and Vattenfall carry out the maintenance for three offshore wind farms, namely the Near Shore Wind Farm off the coast of Egmond (Shell, Vattenfall), the Prinses Amalia Wind Farm (Eneco) off the coast of IJmuiden and the Luchterduinen Project off the coast of Noordwijk. These jointly generate 356 MW of installed capacity. The cabinet aims to have 11 GW of installed capacity in place by 2030.
IJmondhaven
Zeehaven IJmuiden N.V. facilitates large-scale offshore projects and the assembly, construction and maintenance of offshore wind farms in the North Sea. A site is available for offshore projects in IJmondhaven, directly adjacent to quay 300m1 (Monnickendamkade), where the port has an average depth of NAP -11 m1. The site can also be rented for shorter- or longer-term offshore projects.
