Hollandse Visveiling IJmuiden B.V. is one of the operating companies of Zeehaven IJmuiden N.V. At the fish auction at Halkade, large quantities of flat fish such as plaice, sole, turbot, dab and brill as well as round fish such as cod and whiting are landed, sorted and prepared for sale. About EUR 65 million of fresh fish is traded at the fish auction every year.

The IJmuiden fish auction uses the PEFA Internet Auction System (www.pefa.com).
Over the past ten years, PEFA has developed into the leading internet platform for fish auctions. This means that the local buyers in the auction room are joined by about 200 colleagues bidding online.

Each year PEFA facilitates the sale of 65 million kilos of fish with a value of EUR 250 million via 575,000 transactions at 11 member auctions.

The suppliers, processors, trading and logistical companies, together with the IJmuiden Fish Auction, jointly form a rock-solid fish trading cluster.
